Introduction

Drive and Stay Alive, Inc. [DSA], is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, based in New York State, U.S.A.

The organization's programs include:

• Global     -- the International Road Safety News service, currently the world's most comprehensive source for this topic (e.g. In 2004 alone -- the first full year of the IRSN -- DSA published over 2,000 news articles from 116 different countries). DSA also liaises with road safety organizations in various other countries;

• National  -- a US-wide information service is planned, primarily for young drivers;

• Regional -- DSA is developing a program with the aim of making multiple visits to give talks at all 144 high schools in the Niagara Frontier Region of Western New York;

• General Information  -- the DSA website, for an organization of this nature, is huge. There are over 600 web pages, each covering a specific road safety topic. These may be accessed via either Articles and Topics, or the Information Section;

• General Involvement -- key staff at DSA attend various road safety events and conferences (and speak at the latter).

Accolades and Links

In July 2005, DSA was awarded a commendation in the annual awards of the Governors' Highway Safety Association [GHSA] for "outstanding commitment to international highway safety."

In June 2004, when the DSA website was exactly one year old, it received the Best International Traffic Safety Website award of the Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals [CARSP].

Also in 2004, DSA was made the only non-European signatory to the European Road Safety Charter. This was in recognition of DSA's unique, global contribution to the dissemination of relevant news and related information, of use not only to road safety professionals but also to the general public.
