GEICO's Annual Safety Belt Poster Contest Invites All Young Artists to Participate

December 3, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Students, get out your paints, crayons and colored pencils. It's time for GEICO's nationwide poster contest.

Students around the country are invited to draw a poster that GEICO will use in its annual campaign to call greater attention to the use of auto safety belts.

The contest is open to students between the ages of 6 and 15 (as of September 1, 2004). Entries will be judged in three age groups: 6-to-8, 9- to-11 and 12-to-15. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. Entry forms and contest rules went out to principals throughout the U.S., and duplicate contest forms and complete details about the contest are available on GEICO's Web site http://www.geico.com/ in the "About GEICO" section.

More than 2,500 students from across the country entered the contest last year to promote auto safety and win prizes of up to $600 for themselves and $500 for their school.

Cash prizes to students will be awarded for first-, second- and third- place winning entries in each age group, in each of the company's major regions. Individual prizes range from $150 for regional first place awards to overall grand prize awards of an additional $450. Schools with grand prize winners will receive $500 worth of art supplies.

The grand-prize winner in each age group will have his or her poster printed and distributed to all participating schools and in GEICO offices nationwide.
